A Licensed Architect and Engineer, Lawrence has worked in the design industry for over two decades. Trained as an Engineer, he was fascinated with Design and Architecture through his pursuit of the arts. He studied at the internationally recognized Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), receiving a Master of Architecture with emphasis in Furniture Design.
Lawrence draws upon a unique mixture of vision, technical knowledge and experience. He began his career collaborating with renowned Laguna Beach Modernist Architect, Fred Briggs, known for his elegant detailing and brilliantly organized spaces.
LOT established his own practice in 1992 specializing in innovative custom architectural environments and fine design. From the outset the work focused on ways of approaching fundamental elements of space, proportion, light and materials in a progressive and reductivist manner.
The multidisciplinary office insures design concepts can be integrated to the finest detail. Projects have spanned a wide range of scales from Stüssy Clothing's Hawaiian flagship store in Honolulu and their corporate offices, furniture pieces and exhibits for Dellarobbia and Brown Jordan, to residential work throughout Southern California and Hawaii.
