This thematic exhibition will explore the magical and mysterious worlds of fairytales, fantasies, and fears. The works of three contemporary artists - Mattia Biagi known for his work in tar, Mark Newport with his hand knit super heroes, and paper artist Kako Ueda - will be supplemented by permanent collection objects from the Mint Museum of Craft + Design and loans from local collectors.
Fans of Tom Price will recognize his PP Tree installation, (featured above) which will also be one the the show's highlights.
In the Resource Center adjacent to the gallery will be the fairy tale films of animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger (1899-1981). Her technique of painstaking, freehand cutting of paper silhouettes combined with stop-motion camera work has never been duplicated. On display her 1954 classic, Sleeping Beauty.
